Description
18th-Century Antique Folk-Art-Decorated Turned Wooden Dairy Bowl In Original Paint
An 18th-century turned wooden dairy bowl in original paint.
The external and internal surfaces are painted in blue. The interior is overpainted with stylised flowers and foliage. The exterior with scrolls.
The bowl retains its original rebate to the rim to accommodate a skimming ladle or similar.
Provenance – 18thC. Believed to be North European in origin.
Condition -.Please refer to the images. There is a split from the rim of the bowl to the centre, approximately 1/3rd of the diameter of the bowl. This is stable. The split was riveted at some point historically, but the metal rivets have long since been removed. The bowl does look lovely on a table, shelf or sideboard and adds a degree of rustic charm to any interior setting.
