Late 17th Century English Antique Leather Blackjack
Description
Late 17th Century English Antique Leather Blackjack
A charming late 17th-century English antique leather blackjack of elongated form with a carry handle.
Early leather blackjacks and bombards are a very English tradition where tankards and jugs were formed on a mould from wet leather and hand-stitched together. Later examples show evidence of mechanisation with machine-made stitching.
