Mid 19th-Century French Antique Slipware Decorated Earthenware Jug / Pitcher

We just love this jug here at Holt Antiques at Walsingham Mill.

A slipware decorated earthenware pitcher/jug dating to the mid-19th century, which has certainly been well-used.

French origin. Probably originating from the Alsace region of France.

Of baluster form, the flared upper rim with spout, shaped handle, and decorated in underglaze ochre, green, and brown slip.

Provenance – Unknown.

Condition – Please refer to the images. There are glaze losses to the outer surface, and carqueleur which have resulted in a lovely time-worn appearance. There are no chips or frits. The base has a very small firing crack. All in all, the jug displays very well.

Size – Height 19 cm (7 1/2″)
