17th-Century Flemish / Dutch Antique Brass Wall Reflector

A decorative 17th-century antique brass wall reflector.

Flemish/Dutch origin.

With a shaped hanging bracket attached to the pediment. The front is decorated with a scratch-carved, punch-worked, and fretwork design incorporating a flower vase with peonies and tulips. The circular border is decorated with a repoussé-worked rope-like edge, foliage, and floral rosettes. An applied bracket can be found on the lower part of the border where a candle holder would have once been fitted.

Provenance – Unknown.

Condition – Please refer to the images. It is likely that this reflector once started life as a warming pan lid but was upcycled several centuries ago. The candleholder is missing. This remains a good, decorative item. A detailed condition report is available upon request.

Size – Width 29 cm (11 1/2″)
